Senior officers are adorned with new ranks by the Army in Maiduguri

BY ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI  22 senior military officers in Borno State have been promoted by the Nigerian Army Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai. The event was held at Maimalari Cantonment Officer Mess Maiduguri on Friday. Officers recently promoted by the Nigerian Army were decorated as navy commodores, colonels, and brigadier generals. Of the 22 senior officers who received decorations, seven were promoted to the rank of Brig general, one was promoted from navy captain to commodore, and fourteen were promoted from lieutenant colonels to colonels. "You must prepare yourself and build your names by courage and perseverance in the line of duty," stated the theater commander, who acknowledged the growing security threats in the county. A day after losing his mother, Jigawa Governor Namadi loses eldest son

BY EDITOR Jigawa state Governor Malam Umar Namadi has lost his Eldest Son Abdulwahab Namadi. Abdulwahab Namadi died on Thursday in a ghastly motor accident along Dutse-Kafin Hausa road on Thursday. The announcement is contained in a statement by Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor “With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi, Governor of Jigawa State, announces the passing of yet another member of his family; his dear son Abdulwahab Umar Namadi”. “He departed this world this afternoon (Thursday, December 26th, 2024) as a result of a ghastly motor accident along Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road” The burial rite has taking place in Kafin Hausa town, in accordance with Islamic traditions. A 24 year old, late Abdulwahab is survived by his parents and many siblings.

A suicide bomber killed two mourners in Borno

Yesterday, the bomber slipped into a throng of mourners in Dalori, near Maiduguri, and detonated the Improvised Explosive Devices, killing two and injuring three. According to International News Syndicate, the people were lamenting the loss of one of them, who had been killed in a Boko Haram attack in the town the day before, when the bomber entered the gathering. The attack in the countryside of the Tartus region also injured 10 officers, according to the ministry. It came hours after the new government’s military operations command said its forces killed “a besieged group of remnants of the former regime” in the same area. The event will focus on increasing the online representation of Arabic to preserve the language's cultural heritage.  The Arabic language is a pillar of the cultural diversity of humanity. It is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, used daily by more than 400 million people. World Arabic Language Day is celebrated every year on 18 December since 2012.  The date coincides with the day in 1973 that the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted Arabic as the sixth official language of the Organization. He stated that these efforts have significantly improved the Sangaya outcomes and living conditions for Almajiris in the state. The Executive Secretary praised the Borno State Government for providing quality education to Almajiris, stating that it is an important step towards tackling the difficulties affecting the Almajiri system. Speaking at the Shehu's Palace  in Maiduguri on Monday, Vice National President Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev Panya Stephen explained that the gesture aligns with the group’s commitment to nation-building by supporting vulnerable people, especially those displaced by disasters. He said, “The items include 2,000 bags of rice, and other essentials. “Although this may seem little, we know it will go a long way in cushioning the effects of the flood.” He also highlighted CAN’s commitment to promoting cultures and traditions of Nigerians.
