As World Arabic Day Celebration Across The Globe, all roads lead to Maiduguri

The day commemorates the adoption of Arabic as the sixth official language of the United Nations in 1973.
In 2024, the celebration will be held at the Babagana Wakil Intergreted High Islamic School, Maiduguri Borno State Nigeria.
The event will focus on increasing the online representation of Arabic to preserve the language's cultural heritage.
The Arabic language is a pillar of the cultural diversity of humanity. It is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, used daily by more than 400 million people. World Arabic Language Day is celebrated every year on 18 December since 2012.
The date coincides with the day in 1973 that the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted Arabic as the sixth official language of the Organization.
Speaking at the event, the executive Secretary Abdulkadir Abdulkarim Harun thanks Almighty Allah for witnessing another year to celebrate the day as World Arabic Day.
Commended the participants and urged the Muslim ummah to invest mich in their children's education so that they will be useful in the society.
According to him, In the diversity of Arabic forms, classic or dialectal, from oral expression to poetic calligraphy, the Arabic language has given rise to a fascinating aesthetic, in fields as varied as architecture, poetry, philosophy and song. It gives access to an incredible variety of identities and beliefs and its history reveals the richness of its links with other languages.
Also speaking, Professor Umar Yunus Head of Department Arabic Studies, University of Maiduguri empersized the important of Arabic language in the society and revealed that Arabic plays a major role in promoting social cohesion, knowledge production and spreading the values of peace and mutual understanding.
Its contribution to humanity cannot be reduced to one people, as it is a civilization’s legacy for the entire world.
Others who spoke at the event, include Dr. Ibrahim Umar Ilyas Chairman National Arabic Teachers and Islamic Studies, Chairman Borno State Islamiyya Schools Association, Goni Lawan Goni Zarami and Sayyada Fatima Sani dwelled the importance of Arabic language expecially to the upcoming and the entire muslim ummah.
