A political advocacy group in Borno State, known as Ƴan Dangwale, has endorsed Dr. Mohammed Tumala as its preferred candidate for the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. The move signals an early effort to influence the party’s direction in a state where political alignments are beginning to take shape.

The endorsement reflects growing political activity in the lead-up to 2027, as groups and stakeholders begin to position themselves within party structures. Observers say such early declarations could shape internal party dynamics and influence the selection process.
Members of Ƴan Dangwale described Dr. Tumala as a seasoned administrator with the experience and vision needed to address pressing challenges, including security concerns, economic recovery, and infrastructure development. They argued that his leadership qualities distinguish him among potential contenders.
According to the group, Dr. Tumala’s track record in public service demonstrates his ability to manage complex governance issues. They maintained that his experience places him in a strong position to lead the state through its next phase of rebuilding and growth.
Speaking at the endorsement event, representatives emphasized the importance of competent and inclusive leadership. They called on the ADC to prioritize merit and electability in choosing its flag bearer.

The group further noted that the political landscape in Borno requires a candidate capable of bridging divides across communities. They argued that Dr. Tumala’s background and policy orientation could attract support beyond traditional party lines.
Political analysts say endorsements from grassroots groups, while not decisive, can play a role in shaping public perception and mobilizing early support. Such backing may also encourage other stakeholders within the party to rally around a consensus candidate.

All expressed appreciation for the endorsement and acknowledged the confidence reposed in him by the group. They described the support as a call to greater responsibility.
They reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, sustainable development, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens. He also stressed the need for continued dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.
The group added that while the party’s nomination process is yet to begin, they would continue consultations across Borno State, engaging with communities and party members as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
