CDS visits Adamawa, establishes counterterrorism outfit in Adamawa

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa has announced the establishment of Sector 4 of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Mubi, Adamawa, in a bid to sustain counter-terrorism in the North East.

In a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brig. -Gen. Tukur Gusau, om Saturday in Abuja, the CDS announced this during an operational visit to the state and an interface with Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri.

The CDS said his visit was aimed at assessing the operational readiness of troops and identifying areas that require additional support.

He highlighted the strong link between development and security, adding that when citizens benefit directly from governance, they are more likely to support and protect the system.

Musa identified poverty and illiteracy as major drivers of insecurity, pointing out that vulnerable populations were more easily recruited into insurgent groups.

He also commended the people of Adamawa for maintaining relative peace in spite of security challenges across the state.

The CDS told troops within the operational area that plans were on to construct additional barracks and increase military presence in the state.

He thanked the troops for their resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment, urging them to continue their efforts in identifying and neutralising criminal elements.

The CDS also commended the officers and soldiers of 23 Brigade for improved peace and stability in the state.

In his response, Gov. Fintiri expressed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces with logistics, strategic, and tactical resources to bolster ongoing operations.

Fintiri noted that the robust military presence may have been responsible for an uptick in terrorist activity within the state.

He also thanked the CDS for establishing Sector 4 in the state.

The governor also disclosed that he had directed that all roads in Gibson Jalo Barracks be rehabilitated and more recruitment of local hunters to support the military in combating insecurity.

The security patrol team was quick to respond and rush the victim to the State Specialist Hospital, where her death was confirmed.  Her family was given her remains for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. According to sources, the suspect has been taken into custody by the police, and an investigation is currently taking place to determine the circumstances leading to the accidental release.

On Monday, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the public relations officer of Borno State Command, released an update on the case, which affirmed that the children who were treated cruelly by a couple are now in a stable condition and receiving the required care. The statement indicates that their father, Mr. Goni Murmured, visited the state headquarters, where they were given financial aid by senior police officers. BORNO: In Benishiekh, a man was killed during a tragic dispute over mango farming

BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI The death of a brother and the hospitalization of another have been caused by a dispute between two brothers about mango harvesting in Benishiekh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. According to sources, the incident took place on Tuesday around 9:00 AM when Kajdi Kachalla, 40, and his younger brother, Baba Goni Kachalla, 28, had a physical fight at their mango plantation in Ajari Area, Benishiekh. During the fight, both men used wooden sticks to inflict serious head and mouth injuries on one another.  The police operatives responded quickly and transported them to the General Hospital in Benishiekh.  Kajdi Kachalla has been declared dead, while Baba Goni is still undergoing medical treatment. The deceased's body was later given to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rituals.
