Borno: New Commissioner of Police assumes duty

The Borno State Police Command has welcomed its new commissioner of police, Naziru Abdulmajid.

The 43rd Commissioner of Police for Borno State Command is now CP Abdulmajid after CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal retired on June 8, 2025.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command's spokesperson, announced on Tuesday that CP Abdulmajid, who has served for more than three decades, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Across the country, he has held various positions, including operational, investigative, and administrative ones.

ASP Daso mentioned that the new CP has carried out routine police duty in various state commands, including Plateau, Katsina, Kano, Borno, and Lagos. 

Furthermore, he has been in key positions, including being Unit Commander for 36 PMF in Kebbi State and Assistant Commissioner for State CID in Nasarawa State.


CP Abdulmajid's impressive career also includes stints as Area Commander in Hadejia, Jigawa State, Commander in 24 PMF, Presidential escort in Abuja, Deputy Commissioner in Department of Operations in Akwa Ibom State, and Deputy Commissioner in ‘X' Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna State.


Prior to his appointment, he served as the Commissioner of Police (Admin), ICT, Force Headquarters, Abuja. CP Abdulmajid is a student of Geography at Usman Danfodiyo University in Sokoto.


CP Abdulmajid has pledged to work for the safety and security of all residents of Borno State as he begins his duties.


ASP Daso stated that CP Abdulmajid has a steadfast commitment to preserving professionalism, promoting community-oriented policing, and not tolerate any corruption, in accordance with the vision of IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police.


The statement urges the people of Borno State to offer their full cooperation to the new police commissioner in his efforts to ensure peace, security, and public trust in the state.
