The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 15 Headquarters, Maiduguri, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has pointed out the necessity of working together to address security concerns in Borno State, Nigeria's Northeast.

During a stakeholders' forum on security matters in Maiduguri on Monday, he disclosed this, which brought together key security stakeholders from the community.

The forum's aim was to develop stronger connections between the police and stakeholders in Borno State, with the goal of achieving the Inspector General of Police's goal of reducing crime by 2025.

The Civilian Joint Task Force and other stakeholders can play vital roles in enhancing security in the state, which was highlighted by the AIG.

He stated that the police zone is devoted to making sure there are effective communication channels, regular security briefings, enhanced rapid response capabilities, and promoting community-based early warning systems.

He encouraged stakeholders to share concrete security experiences and challenges, propose practical solutions, and pledge to continue working together beyond the forum.

He expressed hope that Borno could serve as a model for security and community resilience after a conflict through structured cooperation, trust-building, and shared accountability.
