CDS leads Nigerian delegation to Cameroon's 53rd Independence Anniversary.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR graced the 53rd National Day celebrations of the Republic of Cameroon on May 20th, 2025, held in Yaounde, the country's capital.
General Musa expressed his gratitude for the welcoming reception, while reinforcing Nigeria's commitment to enhancing partnerships with Cameroon and other neighboring nations to address common security challenges and foster socio-economic growth.
The 53rd Cameroon National Day celebrations were a symbol of the continuing spirit of unity and patriotism, and the collective determination to create a peaceful and prosperous future. The historic event, which is also known as Unity Day, has the theme: 'Army and Nation united for a Cameroon turned towards peace and prosperity'.
President Paul Biya, senior government officials, diplomatic corps members, and citizens and well-wishers from all over the country were present at the event.
During the celebration, there was a stunning lineup of activities, including military exhibits, displays of defense equipment, solidarity treks, and ceremonial parades that showcase Cameroon's unity, strength, and commitment to national development.
The Nigerian Armed Force's contingent's outstanding performance, the first and only foreign presentation at the ceremony, was a significant highlight of the event. The Nigerian delegation captivated the massive crowd with their precise drills, vibrant musical performances, and impeccable regimental coordination, earning accolades and admiration.
It could be recalled that the participation of the Nigerian contingent underscored the strong bilateral ties and military cooperation between Nigeria and Cameroon, while reinforcing shared commitments to regional security, peace, and prosperity.
