The Nigeria Police Force, Borno State Command, has initiated a program to promote community safety during National Police Day.

The gathering, which took place on Wednesday at the ITE Police Division on Baga Road, gathered community leaders, traditional rulers, and key stakeholders to tackle security worries, crime prevention strategies, and improve collaboration between the police and the public.

Speaking at the event, Borno State Commissioner of Police Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, emphasized the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to public service, trust-building, and security during his speech.

The National Police Day, set for April 7th, aims to commemorate the sacrifices and dedication of police officers while boosting community engagement and public trust.

The command has reaffirmed its commitment to organizing a successful event that will include a week-long series of community-focused activities from April 2 to April 7.

Ismail Abdulkadir, who was representing the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Abatcha Umar, expressed appreciation for the event and guaranteed ongoing support in combating crime.

Hajiya Kaltume Jafar, Deputy PCRC Chairwoman, stressed that it's vital to recognize police officers, particularly in Borno State, who risk their lives every day to ensure the safety of communities.

"PCRC women have distinct opinions on the significance of law enforcement in our communities"- she stated.

According to her, police officers serve not only as law enforcers, but also as mentors, role models, and guides.
