More than 80 huts have been burned in the fire at the Monguno IDP Camp.

Two fires erupted in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturday, destroying over 80 makeshift shelters at an IDP camp and 15 houses in Gana Ali Ward.

Around 2:58 pm, the initial fire started in Gana Ali Ward, and at 3:10 pm, there was a second incident in the Government Girls' Secondary School IDP Camp.

Food items, household belongings, and other valuables were destroyed by the infernos.

No injuries were recorded in either incident, and police patrol teams were dispatched to manage crowds and prevent looting.

Eventually, the fires were extinguished thanks to the joint efforts of both security personnel and state firefighters.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fires and estimating the extent of the damage.
