Borno appoints new commissioners

The Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has officially inaugurated two new commissioners to become part of his state executive council.

The event took place on Tuesday at the Government House in Maiduguri, where Chief Justice Kashim Zannah oversaw the oath-taking ceremony.

The recently inaugurated commissioners include Isah Halidu Garba representing Hawul and Umar Lawan Dalorima from Konduga local government.

They are anticipated to play a vital part in overseeing and securing the success of Gov. Zulum's administration in reconstructing and advancing the state.

Governor Zulum encouraged the newly appointed commissioners to utilize their expertise to foster growth and development within the state, highlighting their commendable achievements.

In addition to the swearing-in ceremony, the governor also announced the formation of the ministry of livestock and fishery development, which will be overseen by Deputy Governor Usman Alhaji Kadafur.

BY ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI On Saturday, a 15-year-old girl was killed in Maiduguri when a Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operative strayed off and shot her. Intelligence sources have informed International News Syndicate that the incident occurred at Kanti Goma Shabiyu, Umarari Ward, on Baga Road, as CJTF personnel affiliated with Sector 10 engaged in an arrest attempt.  The accidental discharge of a firearm by an operative identified as 27-year-old Abba Sidi Mala resulted in an injury to Zainab Usman's head. The security patrol team was quick to respond and rush the victim to the State Specialist Hospital, where her death was confirmed.  Her family was given her remains for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. According to sources, the suspect has been taken into custody by the police, and an investigation is currently taking place to determine the circumstances leading to the accidental release.

The hospital has discharged minors who were victims of viral child abuse videos and they are currently recovering well.

BY ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI Hauwa Mohammed Goni and Ummina Hajara Mohammed Goni, who were disrupted by a disturbing child abuse case that was captured in a viral video, are now discharged from the hospital and regaining their health. On Monday, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the public relations officer of Borno State Command, released an update on the case, which affirmed that the children who were treated cruelly by a couple are now in a stable condition and receiving the required care. The statement indicates that their father, Mr. Goni Murmured, visited the state headquarters, where they were given financial aid by senior police officers. The victims are recovering after being released from the hospital, as stated by ASP Daso. BORNO: In Benishiekh, a man was killed during a tragic dispute over mango farming

BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI The death of a brother and the hospitalization of another have been caused by a dispute between two brothers about mango harvesting in Benishiekh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. According to sources, the incident took place on Tuesday around 9:00 AM when Kajdi Kachalla, 40, and his younger brother, Baba Goni Kachalla, 28, had a physical fight at their mango plantation in Ajari Area, Benishiekh. During the fight, both men used wooden sticks to inflict serious head and mouth injuries on one another.  The police operatives responded quickly and transported them to the General Hospital in Benishiekh.  Kajdi Kachalla has been declared dead, while Baba Goni is still undergoing medical treatment. The deceased's body was later given to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rituals.
