Damboa Local Government Chairman flags off over 20,000 tree-planting in the council

The Chairman of Damboa Local Government, Hon. Ali Mohammed Kauji has launched a tree-planting campaign in Damboa with a target of planting 24,000 tree seedlings across the local government area.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman reiterated his commitment to planting 200,000 trees in the Damboa local government area as part of the Borno State Government's goal to plant 10 million trees by 2024.
The program's objective is to combat desertification and alleviate environmental problems such as soil erosion and natural disasters like flooding, which are often caused by indiscriminate tree felling.

Hon. Kauji also reaffirmed his strict ban on felling trees for charcoal production in Damboa local government. 

He said the law will punish anyone who cut trees or transports charcoal within the area, as he warned.

Meanwhile, the Acting Secretary of Damboa Local Government, Zannah Abba Isa, emphasized that tree planting is a beneficial practice that also contributes to a safer environment. 
He urged the community to fully support the program and get involved in tree planting.

The event also witnessed the presence of the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Gana Fugu, as well as legislative council members, supervisory councillors, district heads, religious and community leaders, are just a few of the individuals who participate.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic tree planting by the Chairman, his Deputy, the Acting Secretary, the Damboa APC Party Chairman, councillors, supervisory councillors, district heads, and other dignitaries.
