Help us to fight insecurity –CDS Musa
BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerians to support the Armed Forces in their quest to rid the country of violent groups and insurgents.
General Musa made this appeal on Tuesday at the first Voice of Nigeria Forum in Abuja, stressing the need for trust, civic engagement, and responsible narratives as keys to addressing insecurity.
According to the defence chief, insurgency can grow when citizens offer space, support, or visibility to those working against national peace.
The NSA's Director of Legal Services, Zakari Mijinyawa, who represented NSA Nuhu Ribadu, stressed that security was not solely governed by the military or intelligence agencies.
On his part, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris acknowledged the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and stressed the importance of the media.
Idris urged journalists to focus on the achievements of the military while avoiding excessive coverage of terrorist activities.
The forum, which was jointly organized by Voice of Nigeria and the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, aims to establish a platform for open dialogue between security institutions, the media, civil society, and citizens.
International News Syndicate reports that the event emphasized the importance of unity, trust, and collective responsibility in creating a more secure and safe Nigeria.
It could be recalled that Nigeria's North-East zone has been under attack by terrorists for more than a decade.
