As Borno police arrest suspects, a teenager was killed in a clash with Malians in Maiduguri.

A young man named Bakura Mohammed was stabbed on April 4, 2025, when rival youth groups engaged in violent conflict in Maiduguri, Borno State, northeast Nigeria.

According to intelligence sources, the altercation happened at approximately 4:30 PM in the Ajari and Tashan Lara areas, where young people from both sides were involved in a free-for-all struggle.

The victim was stabbed in the stomach and died as a result. 

Security personnel from the Maiduguri Borno police command rushed him to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital immediately, and medical staff confirmed that he was dead.

According to a police source, seven individuals between the ages of 15 and 24 have been arrested for the incident. 

They include Ba’abba Kyari (20), Ali Alhaji GoniAli (20), Muhammed Audu (18), Ali Isa (15), Sabir Adam (15), Mohammed Tujja (17), and Usman Kasim (24). 

The victim's body was deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy, but it was later released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

The authorities are still searching for other members of the gang who left the scene.
