In Nigeria's Northwest, a Vigilante Commander was killed and many others were injured.

On April 1, 2025, a vigilante commander was killed and several others were injured when bandits attacked Bajat and Dole villages in Safana Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.

According to intelligence sources, the bandits stormed the area around 6pm and began shooting randomly. Nura Baushe, who was a commander of the vigilante group, lost his life tragically in the attack. 

Other victims, Amadu Dole, Surajo Shehu, and Shafiu Sulaiman, sustained various degrees of bullet wounds and were rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina for medical treatment.

The area has returned to normalcy after security personnel were deployed, as reported by local sources.
