 A 27-year-old Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) member named Modu Mallam Gana was detained in Monguno for allegedly shooting at a group of youths, which resulted in two deaths and one serious injury.

According to intelligence sources, a group of youths gathered in front of the CJTF office in Bakin Kasuwa Area, Monguno LGA, on March 21, 2025, at approximately 6:15 a.m., witnessed the incident.

According to the sources, Modu Mallam Gana, the suspect, became angry with their presence and shot them.

The victims, which comprise Ya Zainab Bum and Goni Mohammed Ahmadu, were killed instantly, while Hamsatu Ali suffered serious injuries and was taken to General Hospital Monguno.

Ya Zainab Bum and Goni Mohammed Ahmadu were confirmed dead, and their bodies were given to their families for burial following Islamic rituals while Hamsatu Ali has not been discharged from the hospital yet.

According to reports, the suspect was arrested without delay and given to police.

According to sources, the suspect has been taken into custody by the police, and an investigation is currently taking place to determine the circumstances leading to the accidental release.

BORNO: In Benishiekh, a man was killed during a tragic dispute over mango farming

BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI The death of a brother and the hospitalization of another have been caused by a dispute between two brothers about mango harvesting in Benishiekh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. According to sources, the incident took place on Tuesday around 9:00 AM when Kajdi Kachalla, 40, and his younger brother, Baba Goni Kachalla, 28, had a physical fight at their mango plantation in Ajari Area, Benishiekh. During the fight, both men used wooden sticks to inflict serious head and mouth injuries on one another.  The police operatives responded quickly and transported them to the General Hospital in Benishiekh.  Kajdi Kachalla has been declared dead, while Baba Goni is still undergoing medical treatment. The deceased's body was later given to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rituals.
