An explosion triggered by live ammunition at a blacksmith's workshop in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State resulted in the injuries of three people.

According to sources, our reporter was informed of an incident at Baba Ali Blacksmith's workshop at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, where a 22-year-old man retrieved one live AA round and four AK-47 rounds from the bush when he was fetching firewood.

In spite of efforts by a 14-year-old boy, who was also the blacksmith's son, the man made an attempt to open the ammunition to see its contents.
An explosion was triggered by his hitting the ammunition with a hammer during the process.

Three injuries were caused by the explosion, two of which were fractures and two were bruises.

The victims, all of whom were between the ages of 14, 20, and 22, were quickly taken to Yobe State Specialist Hospital in Buni Yadi for medical treatment.

Residents have been advised by authorities to avoid handling unexploded ordnance or live ammunition, with a focus on the risks of explosive remnants of war in areas affected by conflict.
