Troops Repelled late night attack on Damboa town
Suspected members of Boko Haram on Thursday night attacked Damboa Town, the headquarters of Damboa Local Government Area in Borno state.
According to the sources, the terrorists attacked the town at about 7:30 pm.
In an phone interview one of the sources said "their number is not known, but they couldn't even penetrate the first gate into the town".
According to him "gun shots were cross-fired, but they were easily repelled and normalcy restored in the town time" he said.
He also did not mention any casualty.
Last week, troops dislodged them from some of their operational bases in the axis, in operations carried out in conjunction with members of the Civilian JTF and volunteering vigilantes.
One of such places cleared was Bida, a village located between Damboa and Gwoza local government areas.
Villages its close proximity to the Sambisa Forest, it fell under Boko Haram's sphere of influence and eventually even developed as one of their settlements.
