In Northeast Nigeria, Gov. Zulum has been commended for supporting Kukawa community.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has been commended for his tireless effort towards the people of Borno state.

The member representing Kukawa at the State Assembly, Karta Maina Ma'aji Lawan, disclosed this while delivering Gov. Zulum's assurance of enjoying peace in Baga town.

He said they were at Baga town for the purpose of delivering the governor's message about continuing prayers in Kukawa, Baga, and Cross Kauwa, and to meet Islamic clerics in the area.

Karta Maina Ma'aji added that as the rainy season is about to start, people in his constituency should continue praying to the local government of Kukawa, Borno State, and Nigeria at large. They should also pray to Allah to bless the area with bumper harvest.

According to him, "Gov. Zulum give us directive to meet Islamic clerics to discuss on how to keep my constituents from enemies and we have bulls and cash with us for ulamas in Baga, Kukawa, and Cross Kauwa" he stated
Meanwhile, Karta Ma'aji Lawan visited recent inferno victims in Baga town and distributed food items, mattresses, and Condiments.
He called on them to believe that the act of inferno is a divine destiny from Allah.
The entourage also visited the resident of a recent kidnapped victim by Boko Haram/ISWAP on the outskirts of Baga town and sympathized with him. They advised him to keep praying to our Creator about the recent incident that involved him. 
It could be recalled that last month, suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists killed at least 30 farmers in Malam Karanti village, Kukawa local government area of Borno State, northeast Nigeria.

The International News Syndicate reported that the incident occurred after Boko Haram fighters ambushed farmers in the ISWAP-controlled area, which is approximately 9 kilometers from Baga town, on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
The entourage includes the former and current Chairman of the Kukawa local government, Hon. Abba Fugu, Alhaji Bukar, Adviser to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, politicians, civil servants, and directors, among others.
