In an unusual move, a Real Madrid fan club in Kwalam, Jigawa State, has announced the suspension of a member, Abbati Soja, on grounds of misconduct and lack of loyalty to the club.

According to the club, Soja made dismal statements, suggesting that Real Madrid would not achieve much this season, a sentiment that reportedly had an effect on the morale of other members.

Following a leadership meeting of the fan club, the suspension, which begins on October 28, 2024, will last until May 28, 2025, coincident with the end of the football season.

The decision has stirred controversy among fans, raising important questions about loyalty in sports fandom. Some are wondering if such strict actions might be counterproductive at a time when fan clubs worldwide are striving to grow their base and promote inclusivity.
