Rescuers are racing to find survivors from once-in-a-generation floods in Spain that have killed at least 95 people and left towns submerged in a muddy deluge with overturned cars scattered across streets. About 1,000 soldiers joined police and firefighters on Thursday in the grim search for bodies in the Valencia region as three days of mourning started in the country. The death toll will rise because “there are many missing people,” Territorial Policy Minister Angel Victor Torres said late on Wednesday. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom's condemnation of the terrorist attack targeting a military base in the Lake Chad region, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Saudi Arabia offered its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Chad. A Borno woman is awarded a 5-year university scholarship by the Army. BY ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI  The Nigerian Army has granted a five-year scholarship to Nana Fatima Bukar Bolori, who is a native of Borno State. The Chief of Army Staff Special Scholarship for Islamic Law at the University of Maiduguri will be awarded to Miss Bolori. The award presentation took place today at the Theatre Command Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai Maiduguri. Major General Wahidi Shaibu, the Theatre Commander of the operation who presented the cheque to the beneficiary said the scheme cut across six geopolitical zones of the country. Conflict zones are where nearly 500 million children live and experience violations- Report  In its latest report titled Stop the War on Children, Save the Children reports a 14% increase in 2023 in violations of the rights of children living in conflict zones around the world. More than 31,000 cases were recorded this year, or around 86 violations a day, including sexual assaults, and attacks on schools. ''Over 473 million children - more than a sixth of the world's population - now live in conflict zones.  In 2023, there were also 31,729 grave violations of children's rights, a record since the UN began documenting these incidents in 2010.  These violations include an alarming number of murders and mutilations,'' said Musa Chibwana, the Regional Humanitarian Analyst at Save the Children. The power in Northern Nigeria states is restored after a blackout BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE, MAIDUGURI  The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Wednesday that electricity has returned to some Northern Nigerian states after a lengthy power outage. Ndidi Mbah, a TCN representative, bulk power service was restored at 4:56 pm on Wednesday via the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1. As he stated, the restoration follows the completion of repairs on the vandalized section. Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe are among the affected states that have regained power supply and have now returned to normal. Mbah mentioned that TCN engineers are in the process of repairing the second 330kV transmission line, and all necessary materials have been brought on site. The work is set to begin."
