Borno Launches Major Livestock Vaccination Drive to Curb Cross-Border Diseases

Borno, Nigeria-The Borno State Government has begun a large-scale livestock vaccination campaign aimed at preventing the spread of transboundary animal diseases, a persistent threat in Nigeria’s northeast where porous borders and regional trade routes heighten the risk of infection. The exercise, launched at the Maiduguri Main Cattle Market, is being implemented through the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development in partnership with the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, known as L–PRES. The initiative forms part of a nationwide distribution of vaccines designed to protect herds and strengthen livestock productivity across vulnerable regions.
