Nigerien Army arrests JNIM commander in Tillabéri region.

BY: NEWS DESK The Nigerien Army has apprehended a suspected senior member of the terror organization Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) in the Tillabéri region and recovered cash, weapons, and logistical items that were believed to be used for terrorist purposes. The army reported that the suspect was intercepted on April 3 at approximately 6:30 p.m. while driving a vehicle on the Torodi-Niamey route. Military sources claim that the vehicle's search led to the discovery of a firearm, multiple mobile phones, and a sum of 5,032,900 CFA francs.  According to the army, the money was intended for the purchase of logistics to support terrorist activities. BY: NEWS DESK Local vigilante members, popularly known as Yan Sakai, ambushed suspected armed bandits loyal to Dan Rani and reportedly executed 30 of them near Dansadau town in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nigeria's northwest. Intelligence sources told International News Syndicate that the incident occurred on April 4, 2025, at about 2:00 pm, when the bandits were allegedly on their way to launch an attack on a nearby village.   An ambush was set by vigilante operatives on the outskirts of the town, resulting in a fierce confrontation where the bandits were defeated. JNIM fighters killed hundreds in Guiedougou, Burkina Faso.

BY: ALASSANE OUMAROU The village of Guiedougou in western Burkina Faso was devastated by suspected fighters from the Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) during a devastating attack, which was said to be one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent years, killing an estimated 300 people.   The military stated that the operation 'liberated' the Sourou Valley on April 1 and then withdrew the next day. BY: NEWS DESK A young man named Bakura Mohammed was stabbed on April 4, 2025, when rival youth groups engaged in violent conflict in Maiduguri, Borno State, northeast Nigeria. According to intelligence sources, the altercation happened at approximately 4:30 PM in the Ajari and Tashan Lara areas, where young people from both sides were involved in a free-for-all struggle. The victim was stabbed in the stomach and died as a result.  Security personnel from the Maiduguri Borno police command rushed him to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital immediately, and medical staff confirmed that he was dead. In Nigeria's northeast, an IED explosion injures one in Damboa village.

BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE An improvised explosive device (IED) explosion occurred in Masaimari Village, 55 kilometres away from Damboa LGA, Borno state, northeast Nigeria on April 4, 2025, leaving one person injured. According to intelligence sources, Alhaji Sanda and Bulama Zaraye, both residents of the Hausari community, accidentally Bulama stepped on an IED while returning home. Local sources say that Alhaji Sanda and Bulama Zaraye went to the bush to burn charcoal. Unfortunately, on their way back, this incessantly occurred. The device that ISWAP is suspected of planting exploded, causing injuries to Bulama's buttock, right hand, and lap. Bulama was rushed to General Hospital in Damboa and is currently receiving treatment while remaining stable. Man killed accidentally during joint security operation in northern Nigeria.

BY: RABIATOU BOUBACAR CHAIBOU A horrific incident took place on April 3, 2025, while security forces were conducting a joint operation in The Girei Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State.  Personnel from the Police, Military, Department of State Security Services (DSS), and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) participated in the operation to search for criminal hideouts in the area. According to local sources, one of the security personnel accidentally discharged their firearm during the operation, which struck 21-year-old Bara Adamu from Wuro Bulama, Girei Local Government Area.  The victim was swiftly transported to a specialist hospital for treatment, but sadly, the physician on duty confirmed his death. Kidnapped Israeli expatriate was rescued in northern Nigeria.

Following the abduction by six assailants wearing military uniforms riding motorcycles on Takum/Chanchangi Road, a team of military personnel and local hunters was formed to deal with it.  According to local sources, the victim was eventually rescued at Kofai Ahmadu on April 3, 2025 at approximately 11:50 p.m.  While in captivity, Mr. Itamar suffered a head injury and is now receiving medical attention at the medical facility of SCC Company.  His condition is stable, and he will be debriefed after his recovery to assist security operatives in their efforts to track down the kidnappers. NIGERIA: In Kano, a fatal road accident resulted in 15 deaths and 10 injuries.

BY: SA'EED MUSAWA, KATSINA A fatal road accident occurred along Chiromawa Village in Garun Mallam Local Government Area of Kano State on Thursday, April 3, 2025, leaving 15 people dead and 10 others injured. Local sources reported that the accident occurred at about 3:20 p.m. and involved a white Toyota Liteace bus that had 25 passengers and a blue Daf trailer that was parked by the roadside with the registration number KMC 158 XW. According to reports, the bus driver, who has yet to be identified, lost control and hit the stationary trailer from the back.  All passengers suffered various degrees of injuries as a result. The bus driver and 14 passengers were confirmed dead by emergency responders, and the remaining 10 passengers are receiving treatment at Kura General Hospital. Terrorist attack claims one police officer in Gwoza, Borno.

BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE An ambush at the Police Mobile Force Training College (PMFTC) Camp Limankara, Gwoza resulted in the death of a police inspector.  Intelligence sources told International News Syndicate that the incident occurred at approximately 6:00 AM on April 3, 2025, while a team of officers, including those from Mopol Training School Gwoza and various Mobile Police Force units, was on foot patrol. During the attack, Inspector Andrawus Musa, who was attached to 6PMF Maiduguri, was killed.  His service firearm, an AK-47, was captured by the attackers.  The victim was taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) immediately, but was declared dead upon arrival.  The body has been taken to the hospital for autopsy. An orphanage school in Nigeria's northwest was gutted by fire.

BY: ADAMU ALIYU NGULDE AND BARIRA MUSA The school section of an IDP camp in Sokoto State experienced a fire outbreak on April 3, 2025, at approximately 1608 hours.  The school is Jarma UK Academy, which was destroyed by fire in Sokoto State. Primary 5 and 6, JSS 1, and SS3 classes, as well as the Skills Acquisition Center and male student hostels, suffered damages from the fire.  Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths reported as a consequence of the inferno.  The Federal and State Fire Services and other security agencies joined together to respond promptly and extinguished the fire after a prolonged battle. The cause of the fire has not been figured out, and the value of the property that was lost is still to be determined.  The investigation is still ongoing.
